Located just 20 miles northeast of downtown Denver and 9 miles from Denver International Airport, the city of Brighton is on the edge of the eastern Colorado plains, providing beautiful vistas and a refreshing change from downtown’s urban congestion. Offering a warm, small town atmosphere, with long-standing cultural and historic roots, Brighton is a wonderful place to call home – and people have noticed.
By the 2000 census, the "town" had grown to more than 20,000 people, and continued growth is projected. Employment is at 10,500 jobs, with a $65,00 median income – a 38% increase since 2000.
Definitely a growth area, as of 2008, within a 10-mile radius of Prairie Center there is a population base of over 142,000. And, it is projected to increase to over 170,000 by 2013. That includes over 47,000 households with an average annual income of over $76,000.
Brighton will also soon be the home of two Vestas manufacturing plants, one a wind turbine blade factory and the other a nacelle manufacturing plant. The factories are valued at $290 million and will provide 1,350 employment opportunities: 650 in the blade factory and another 700 in the nacelle manufacturing plant. Groundbreaking for the factories took place on March 25, 2009.
